Chapter 50.2
Chapter 50.2
He started the car and pulled out slowly. The mansion around them was quiet, just as he’d said. Then, as if remembering something, he added,
“Oh, except for Gang-ah.”
Even Yunam, who usually followed him around like a shadow, was nowhere to be seen. Heeju doubted he’d gone on a date. Most likely, he was at the hospital.
“… How did the surgery go?”
“He’s been moved to recovery.”
The car carrying the two of them rolled past the gates. Adjusting the heater vent, Gukhyun spoke with a teasing tone.
“If he finds out I was screwing you while he was in surgery, he’ll throw a fit. So keep it secret.”
Heeju turned to him, her face incredulous.
“Wouldn’t it be a secret anyway?”
“Funny thing is, even if you don’t say a word, everyone can tell. Your face gives it away after s!.x.”
“…”
At a loss for words, Heeju turned her head toward the window, suddenly exhausted. She muttered under her breath, annoyed,
“You’re such a liar… every time you open your mouth.”
“Not lying.”
‘My face gives it away? What kind of “giveaway” is he talking about…’ She rubbed her cheek with the back of her hand. It felt warm.
After that, silence filled the car. They drove for over an hour through the quiet until they finally reached a deserted stretch of coastline.
The moment Heeju stepped out of the car, a strong sea breeze wrapped around her body. The wind carried a sharp, salty scent. She breathed in deeply, filling her lungs with the smell of the ocean, and walked toward the end of the pier.
The gusts were so strong that her body swayed. As she stumbled slightly, pushed by the wind, Gukhyun caught her by the shoulder and pulled her close.
“What are you doing here? Planning a double dive or something?”
Waves crashed against the pier, breaking into rough, white foam. This was the sea Heeju had tried to throw herself into. The place where Gukhyun had pulled her out.
It hadn’t even been two months, but with how quickly everything around her had changed, it felt like a lifetime ago. Standing here again with him felt strange, almost unreal.
Maybe he really thought she came here to die with him. His arm was wrapped tightly around her, practically locking her in place. There was no way she could move, let alone dive.
“Would you?”
Her calm question made him narrow his eyes.
“I don’t like swimming in the ocean. It’s salty and it stinks.”
“Then why did you jump in that time? You had a whole squad of people with you.”
Gukhyun glanced at her, then opened his coat and wrapped it around her like a blanket, pulling her into his warmth. Her hair whipped wildly in the wind, but his body against hers felt unbelievably warm.
“Does it matter who jumped in? All I needed was to drag back a debtor trying to log out of life without paying what she owed.”
“Then why are you so good to that debtor?”
“You think I’m good to you?”
Gukhyun let out a short laugh and brought his lips close to her ear.
“You’re real trouble, you know that? Falling head over heels just because some guy with a d!/k treats you a little nicely.”
“…”
“You’re too naïve to realize it, but guys who treat you well usually just want to sleep with you. The ones who do it for no reason… those are the most dangerous.”
The slow, teasing movement of his tongue on her earlobe made Heeju shiver. She hunched her shoulders and muttered,
“Is that seriously all that ever goes on in your head?”
“For the most part, yeah.”
Gukhyun laughed quietly, burying his face against the back of her neck while holding her from behind.
“Sorry, but right now, all I can think about is f!*ing you again.”
So that’s what that was; the hard thing that kept pressing against her backside. At some point, he’d gotten hard again. Trapped inside his coat, she could feel the friction against her clearly.
What part of their conversation could’ve possibly turned him on? She couldn’t even guess. After how many times he’d finished last night, the fact that he was still hard twenty-four hours later felt like something out of a medical study.
“You’re gonna die early at this rate.”
“If I die on top of you, that’s a good death.”
“Haa, you’re unbelievable…”
