Chapter 47.2
Chapter 47.2
Seok-kyung returned close to midnight.
Rain was still falling steadily in the goblin realm. That meant Seok-kyung’s mind was still in turmoil.
“Your Highness. Start to lighten up. At this rate, it’ll be monsoon season.”
Seol-do, who had left the palace with him, grumbled, shaking off the raindrops that had splashed on her clothes.
“How can I do what even the Supreme God can’t?”
“Why can’t you? Find the cause of your anger and like this, snip snip.”
Seol-do made a gesture of slicing her neck with his hand.
“Why does every conclusion of yours lead there?”
Seok-kyung clicked his tongue and took off his shoes.
“And I told you I’m not angry. How many more times do I have to say it…”
As he crossed the dimly lit hallway with the light from the sensor behind him, he stopped abruptly at the entrance to the living room. His straight eyebrows instantly contorted, and he frowned.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
Seol-do, who was following behind, scanned the living room, following Seok-kyung’s gaze.
“Well, well.”
And she burst out laughing after discovering something.
It was Ara, asleep on the living room sofa. The way she had gathered her knees and huddled up looked quite pitiful. Only the TV, with its volume deliberately turned down, was excitedly chattering away at a barely audible level.
“Ha…”
Seok-kyung sighed, touching his forehead with an unknown frustration. At the same time, the raindrops hitting the window noticeably intensified.
“There’s going to be a flood, a flood.”
Seol-do shook her head and clicked her tongue.
“So Na Ara was the culprit behind the sudden rain?”
Seok-kyung pressed his lips tightly. He couldn’t lie because of the damn goblin rules.
“Whatever it is, resolve it quickly.”
“There’s nothing to resolve.”
“If there’s nothing to resolve, why is she acting like a wet puppy? And why is it pouring all day in the realm?”
“Nam Seol-do.”
Seok-kyung’s voice rose.
“…Kim Seok-kyung?”
Ara, who had been awakened by the noise, rubbed her sleepy eyes and turned around.
“Seize the opportunity when it’s there. If you keep putting it off like homework, you’ll regret it later.”
Seol-do left those meaningful words behind and scurried off to her room.
That girl, I’ve been too lenient…
As Seok-kyung ground his teeth inwardly, Ara put down the blanket she had been covered with and got up.
“You’re very late today. You usually come home before sunset.”
Ara approached Seok-kyung, rubbing her arms. She felt chilly, probably because she had just woken up.
Come to think of it, the rain outside had become even more fierce.
“Don’t you have a room? Go in and sleep.”
As expected, Seok-kyung’s tone was as sharp as thorns, as if his mood had worsened since the morning.
“Come here for a moment.”
But Ara didn’t give in. She had overcome even greater hardships in her life, so a goblin who was a bit rude was nothing.
She grabbed Seok-kyung’s wrist tightly and pulled him. Their destination was the dining room.
“What are you doing…
Startled, Seok-kyung twisted his wrist, trying to pull it out of Ara’s grasp as she dragged him along.
“Just a moment. I really mean just a moment.”
To Seok-kyung, whose innate strength was different, Ara’s grip was a weak restraint that he could easily shake off with his eyes closed.
However, Seok-kyung’s wrist remained obediently in Ara’s grasp until they arrived at the dining room.
“Don’t run away, wait here.”
Ara finally brought Seok-kyung into the dining room. Only after groping along the wall to turn on the lights did she release Seok-kyung’s wrist.
“Who said I was running away…”
Seok-kyung quickly put his hands behind his back as if hiding something.
Around the wrist bone where Ara’s fingers had been wrapped, a wildly tangled pulse throbbed madly.
Was that why?
“Pretty, right?”
Seok-kyung almost nodded without realizing it.
Not at the fancy snack basket on the table, but at Ara, who was holding the removed tablecloth and sparkling her eyes.
“I made it all myself.”
Ara shrugged her shoulders and declared boldly. She looked like a triumphant general returning after annihilating the enemy.
“…So what? Do you want me to praise you or something?”
Seok-kyung deliberately averted his gaze from Ara’s face and answered curtly.
“What kind of goblin is so twisted?”
What is he? A twisted breadstick? At least twisted breadsticks are delicious.
Ara sulked, but carefully watched Seok-kyung’s face.
“It’s a gift.”
Just a little, even for a moment… She hoped to see a smile on his face.
“For you.”
