Chapter 248.1
Chapter 248.1
The cane fit comfortably in her palm. Seoryeong chuckled softly as she carefully took a step forward.
She put on the blindfold she had prepared in advance and then covered it with sunglasses. As her vision turned black and she could see nothing, a familiar fear surged within her.
Yet, her lips remained loosely curved. It was because of Lee Wooshin’s hand, which supported her. Large, solid, her support.
“Ah!”
Is that so? Perhaps she missed this moment just a little. Seoryeong recalled their first honeymoon.
That’s right, there was a time when this was part of everyday life.
‘I was naive, and you were a liar…’
Suddenly, her nose tingled.
Even though it wasn’t that long ago, there were so many unspoken twists and turns that it felt like a distant memory. Still, counting Kim Hyun, she had known this man for five years already. That time settled heavily in her heart.
“Watch your step.”
His large hand gently wrapped around Seoryeong’s shoulder and arm. She tapped her white cane, feeling her way forward. Then, she heard a mumble from beside her, “Ah. This feels strange.”
Seoryeong let out a small laugh. After all, Lee Wooshin must feel awkward and uncomfortable too. She hadn’t expected that the painful past would turn into such a nostalgic journey.
“Let’s go under the sunlight.”
This time, Seoryeong pulled him along.
Lee Wooshin matched his pace to his wife’s steps. Yet, he continuously scanned the surroundings.
A speeding vehicle 50 meters ahead, a man sitting on a bench using his phone, movement behind the third streetlight. Even though he knew he was being overly reactive, having his wife beside him with her eyes covered made him feel on edge, just like in the old days.
Lee Wooshin subtly adjusted their direction to avoid a group of approaching male students.
“Oh, I hear a puppy!”
Seoryeong quickly turned her head at the sound coming from afar. Lee Wooshin confirmed the source of the sound. Fortunately, it was just a neighbor out for a casual walk.
Tap, tap, as time went on, the sound of their footsteps perfectly synchronized. Seoryeong, with her unseen eyes, groped and looked up at her husband.
“Instructor, should I just quit training?”
“What?”
Lee Wooshin swallowed hard. It felt as if light had suddenly shone upon him.
“What do you mean, quit?”
“Say it properly with your mouth.” Lee Wooshin asked again, pretending not to know. The answer he had been waiting for came readily.
“The National Intelligence Service.”
“….”
Oh God… Lee Wooshin squeezed his eyes shut and let out a sigh of relief. However, he didn’t want to reveal his joy without restraint. He bit down on his teeth to suppress the bubbling happiness.
Don’t act frivolously, Lee Wooshin.
Don’t spoil what’s already set.
He unconsciously pressed down the corners of his mouth with one hand. It was a good thing Seoryeong had her eyes covered. If she had been awake… Lee Wooshin brushed his chest as he looked at her blindfold and sunglasses.
“Is the training very tough?”
In that moment, whether it was joy or something else, his heart raced. Suddenly, Seoryeong tapped his wrist and let go.
“But Instructor, you seem really tense right now.”
“What?”
She had pressed on a specific tendon of Lee Wooshin’s, and that area had turned pale and indented. Lee Wooshin swallowed a chuckle and rubbed his lower lip with his tongue.
His brow furrowed involuntarily. He never expected to be caught off guard by such a rookie.
He pulled Seoryeong’s waist as a bicycle approached. Once he wrapped her in his arms, he finally felt at ease and was able to breathe deeply. Lee Wooshin leaned down and whispered in her ear.
“Seoryeong, be honest with me.”
His low voice somehow felt a bit ominous.
“What are you doing with your eyes covered?”
“….”
Without asking what that sudden question meant, she didn’t flinch or react. Seeing her calm demeanor only made him more certain. Lee Wooshin bit his lower lip and raised his eyebrows.
“Are you using the excuse of a date to train with me?”
“….”
Then, her face filled with a shy, silent smile. ‘But how did you know? Where did I get caught?’
Really?
Lee Wooshin felt as if his heart was crumbling.
