Chapter 240.1
Chapter 240.1
When the man regained consciousness after losing his mind, he astonished Ohn Isu with a nonchalant remark: “How much is a night at Winter Castle?”
‘Relax your jaw, Ohn Isu. You promised to take good care of him. You vowed to serve him with utmost sincerity.’
However, the pressure of the man’s presence made her shrink her shoulders.
“Kim Chunbok, should I trim your nails?”
“…What?”
“Your nails are too long, and they hurt. I’ll go to the storage, and get the nail clippers!”
“No, don’t!”
Ohn Isu fled the scene as if escaping. Why, why was it so hard to breathe? She pressed down on her racing heart, bewildered.
As she headed down to the storage to find the nail clippers, a shadow passed by the window and disappeared.
Startled, Ohn Isu turned around and opened the back door instead of going to the storage.
“――!”
Before she could scream, a large hand grabbed her. Wh-who, who is it?
In the pitch-black night, a strange gray iris emerged. The unfamiliar man placed a finger to his lips as if to silence her.
It wasn’t just one person. Surrounding the back door were men–one dressed in a nurse’s outfit under a padded coat, and a slender young one aiming a gun at her. A red dot extended from the gun, precisely targeting Ohn Isu’s chin.
“Ah….”
Ohn Isu realized that all her sins had been exposed. So this is how it ends…
Of course, the South Korean authorities couldn’t be incompetent. She felt her legs weaken as if they were giving way.
Indeed, it seemed that one couldn’t live without committing sins; it felt like ten years of pent-up frustration was finally being released.
The man in front of her exuded a more menacing atmosphere than the team leader of the special investigation unit she had seen during her time at the Central Police Academy. He pulled out a badge from his pocket, but she didn’t have the mental capacity to verify it.
“Where is Kim Chunbok?”
Ohn Isu flinched at the icy cold voice that made her shoulders jump.
“Kim, Kim Chunbok is healthy! There’s no need to recite the Miranda rights. I won’t run away; I’ll go quietly. But… could you please wait just five minutes here?”
“….”
Ohn Isu lifted her frightened eyes. Eek…! But the fierce gaze that looked like ash made her lower her head again.
‘Kim Chunbok, I’m sorry. I don’t think I can trim your nails…’
“Ah, no. I’ll just follow you quickly…”
As the gray-eyed man gestured, the gun aimed at Ohn Isu was lowered. The man leaned against the back door and brushed off the snow piled high on his shoulders, saying, “You’re just like everyone else, causing trouble.” As he exhaled, a foggy breath flowed out like smoke.
“Are you injured anywhere?”
Instead of reciting the Miranda rights, the man asked something else.
“Kim Chunbok physically assaulted you, or he threatened and confined you, or forced you to commit other illegal acts, or sexually harassed you–”
“Wait, wait a minute!”
Ohn Isu urgently interrupted. What did he just say? Sexual–what?
“It seems there’s been a misunderstanding.”
“Ohn Isu, Kim Chunbok is a dangerous individual. This is a sufficiently frightening and intimidating situation.”
The man had a look on his face as if he were rolling a bitter cigarette.
“That bruise on your neck, wasn’t that his doing?”
“…!”
Ohn Isu felt the three men exchanging strange glances. The gray-eyed man looked at Ohn Isu as if she were pitiful and coldly muttered, “What could a twenty-one-year-old possibly do…”
His unfeeling gaze examined Ohn Isu’s face before he clicked his tongue in disdain.
How young could I be in their eyes? Ohn Isu was irritated by their unwavering belief that Kim Chunbok must have done something wrong.
