Chapter 229.2
Chapter 229.2
Seoryeong scratched her chin awkwardly. Then she felt the cold breath on her ear as Lee Wooshin leaned in. She kept her gaze on Jin Hojae’s manly face while lightly tapping Lee Wooshin.
“But don’t they really look alike?”
She whispered the last name quietly, lowering her voice so only he could hear.
At that moment, Lee Wooshin, who had been lounging with his legs outstretched, pushed his hair back. Seoryeong briefly caught sight of his furrowed brow, his mood clearly disturbed. She tilted her head in confusion.
Had she said something wrong? But she had often mentioned how Jin Hojae resembled Kim Hyun facial features and body back at the training camp…
While she observed Lee Wooshin’s mood, the silent man suddenly grabbed her and pulled her without a word. His steps were quick and forceful, his stride almost violent.
“Instructor, wait. Wait a minute! Where are we going!”
“If you put pressure on your heels, your wrists will just turn red, Seoryeong, relax.”
His calm, quiet voice made Seoryeong shrink her shoulders for no reason. But there was something in his cold, lifeless gaze, his face frozen in a way that made her heart chill. She unconsciously closed her mouth, feeling the sudden, eerie shift in his expression. When they reached a small annex and stopped, he washed his face with a dry towel, still not letting go of her hand.
“I’ll make this quick since you’ll be seeing Jin Hojae often.”
“What about?”
“You were right. Kim Hyun does look like Jin Hojae.”
“What?”
“That’s why I feel like crap.”
Seoryeong, stunned, could only watch as he clenched his teeth. He shut his jaw with harsh force, almost as if swallowing his frustration. His face, on the edge of turning frightening, was forcibly held in check, and he continued speaking.
“So, don’t give Jin Hojae any attention in front of me. It’s hard for me to hold back when I see you getting all cozy with Kim Hyun.”
The tension in his voice felt dangerously sharp, but Seoryeong still didn’t understand. How could that be?
“Really… does Kim Hyun really look like him?”
She blinked and asked, and Lee Wooshin grimaced, biting his lips. Then, his brows furrowed as he lowered his head, playing with the back of his neck for a while.
He looked like he was determined to stay silent, but as Seoryeong continued to wait patiently with unwavering focus, he finally gave in.
“When I made Kim Hyun… I used that guy as a model.”
“…!”
The voice that came out so suddenly felt like a jolt.
“He looks healthy inside and out, and his personality seems smooth and unassuming. So, when you started talking about naming the kid Hyun, how you wanted him to resemble Kim Hyun, and all those things you said that tore my heart out… you still soften up every time you see Jin Hojae.”
He spoke slowly. His low and gentle voice, though clearly his, didn’t quite sound like Lee Wooshin. His palm was cold to the touch.
“I didn’t want to say this, Seoryeong.”
The faint sense of defeat began to settle on Lee Wooshin’s face, a face that always seemed to look down on others from above. Seoryeong couldn’t take her eyes off the pale, dark change in his expression.
“If I hadn’t interfered, you might have really ended up in bed with Jin Hojae. Just thinking about it makes my head boil, and I feel like killing someone.”
“I wasn’t always this obsessive,” Lee Wooshin said, tilting his head back as if overcome with self-loathing. His arm pressed against his eyes, as his anger tightened the muscles in his face, and a ferocious pulse throbbed through his veins.
Through it all, she saw glimpses of helplessness, sharp jealousy, and even an out-of-place, faint sense of inferiority. Seoryeong blushed deeply after taking in all his human emotions.
Suddenly, her chest fluttered. Back then, Lee Wooshin had trampled and denied her feelings for Kim Hyun, calling it anything but love. He had told her it was merely some survival instinct. How had his confidence and arrogance disappeared like that?
She found herself in a bit of an amusing mood and decided to tease him more.
“You said what I had with Kim Hyun wasn’t love. Hmm? You couldn’t see it, so you said it was just some instinct to survive. You said I chose him because I wanted to be normal.”
“….”
“But you’re still bothered by Kim Hyun?”
She thought she was the only one with too many desires. But seeing him objectifying and distancing himself from Kim Hyun made her laugh.
What did it matter who she had based him on? The man she had lived with was the only one in the world who mattered. Lee Wooshin was wasting his energy on things that didn’t matter.
Seoryeong pulled him in close, moving the side of her face that was pressed against him.
“I don’t care who you tried to imitate.”
‘All I need is you, Lee Wooshin. How could he still not understand that? Seoryeong squeezed her eyes shut and fumbled for words.’
“Ah, ah…”
