Chapter 105.1
Chapter 105.1
At André’s blunt question, Hyunjung’s expression shifted strangely. She tilted her head and muttered,
“That’s odd. I’m sure Seunghyuk oppa said Miran unni went back to Korea yesterday…”
“…What?”
André’s face hardened, his expression turning fierce. Startled, Hyunjung flinched and took a step back.
“Oh my, you didn’t know?”
Then, shooting him a sharp look full of blame and suspicion, she scoffed loud enough for him to hear.
“For that sweet woman to run off to Korea without a word, she must’ve had a good reason. You cheated on her in broad daylight with another woman, and now you’re chasing after her? What’s the point—”
“Stop. Be quiet.”
André pressed a hand to his forehead and raised his palm toward her. When he opened his eyes again, Hyunjung was blinking nervously, inching backward. Then she grabbed the strap of her backpack tightly, as if about to bolt.
“I have nothing more to say. Goodbye!”
But André moved first, his tall frame blocking the doorway.
“Who told you she went to Korea? Are you sure?”
She glanced around like a cornered animal, then snapped defensively,
“I’m not lying! I was right there when Miran unni called him yesterday! She said something urgent came up at home, so she had to go back to Korea, and that they could finish filming the rest there. I heard it clearly. Why, is that a problem?”
André’s brow furrowed deeply.
“…Filming?”
Hyunjung’s eyes widened.
“What, she didn’t tell you that either? She’s acting in the short film Seunghyuk oppa’s making. From what I heard, she’s playing some really beautiful, sexy muse or something like that.”
Her innocent tone hit André’s head like a blunt weapon. He lifted his chin slightly and loosened his tie. His voice came out rough and strained.
“Where’s Nam Seunghyuk?”
“He’s been busy editing the past few days. Probably holed up in the editing room at school. Wait, why are you suddenly talking down to me?”
Hyunjung glared at him, fearless, her eyes full of contempt, like she was looking at a friend’s cheating boyfriend.
“Ha.”
André let out a short sigh, pushed open the academy door, and walked out. He got into the car waiting out front.
[To the office.]
Enzo nodded and pulled into the congested Midtown traffic. In the rearview mirror, André’s face looked pale. His expression was even harder than usual—impossible to read—but it was obvious things hadn’t gone well with Miran.
‘Did they fight?’
André, fighting with his girlfriend… didn’t seem possible. Even as a kid, he’d been strangely calm for his age. As an adult, he’d built walls so high no one dared to cross them.
Enzo was dying to know why he’d shown up alone, but he kept his mouth shut and just watched, guessing in silence.
‘He left for work alone yesterday too. Maybe the rumors were true.’
Whenever the staff at Lafayette Residence got together, all they talked about was André and his “girlfriend.”
Especially Sophia, the young maid who brought food and cleaned the apartment at Columbus Circle every day. She’d ignore Higgins’s constant warnings to keep her mouth shut and go on and on about how André was head over heels in love.
She said the perfectionist André even shared his bedroom and dressing room with her, that they spent passionate nights together, that he’d showered her with family jewels.
She’d giggle, saying he guarded the woman like treasure hidden deep inside the mansion, not letting anyone even glimpse her hair, and that pretty soon there’d be a new lady of the house.
But lately, a strange rumor had started going around: that André and Lady Lorraine Cabot, known among the staff as the Ice Princess, were secretly engaged.
Whether it was true or not, the servants were practically yelling at each other over it.
Half the people believed that, in terms of lineage and wealth, Lorraine was the proper match to become the new lady of the Lafayette family. The other half argued that, no matter her status, André should marry the woman he loved.
If he had to choose, Enzo sided with Miran. As André’s driver, he had seen the two of them together more than anyone else.
Sophia hadn’t been wrong. Watching André with Miran, it was impossible to deny that he was in love.
